A Fragrance Gift Guide For Men!

Hello, my loves! It feels great to be back in the blogging world. We had a wonderful time in Portugal - it is such a beautiful, welcoming country, and I will be sure to tell you all about it in a separate post! For now, I am struggling with the post-holiday blues, but I do feel excited about being able to post more regularly again. Today, I would like to talk to you a little bit about men's fragrances. We've covered quite a few different perfume recommendations here on Shoes and Glitter, but I have only ever focused on feminine scents. Today, I'd like to share with you some of my favourite masculine fragrances, which might be useful especially if you're planning to purchase a scented gift for the upcoming Father's Day! I would also like to thank today's sponsor, L'Occitane, who gave me the inspiration for this post. L'Occitane have mastered the craft of capturing natural scents not only in perfumes, but also everyday products like this lovely shaving cream, enriched with the cade essential oil. I'd wholeheartedly recommend that you check them out, loves! Hope you enjoy today's post!

If you are looking for something truly refined, timeless and sophisticated, then Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal (£50) will be perfect for you. This is actually my favourite masculine fragrance of all time, and also my better-half's signature scent. It's quite mature and distinctively masculine, but something about it also feels very warm and inviting. The scent combines fresh notes of citrus and leather, soothed by the warmth of toasted almonds and tonka bean. If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I'd say that L'Homme Ideal smells a little like creamy amaretto drinks and rich cigars. It's incredibly captivating, classic; but with a modern edge which makes is suitable for casual wear all year round.

And if you want to treat your man to something truly special, you could check out one of Clive Christian's masculine fragrances, such as this sandalwood perfume, 1872. Clive Christian is one of the most luxurious perfume brands out there - I've had the pleasure to personally sample a couple of their feminine scents, and they were absolutely beautiful and long-lasting. Whilst inspired by the ancient Rome (the perfume incorporates clary sage which was used by the troops in the Roman army), 1872 still embraces modernity and class. The scent brings together refreshing notes of citrus and spices, on the bed of warm sandalwood. A truly luxurious treat!

If you are looking for something a little more casual, I'd wholeheartedly recommend another one of my partner's top picks - Fuel For Life by Diesel (£44). This scent is much more effortless and youthful, but it still leaves a lasting impression. This composition offers a very interesting combination of raspberry and anise, which smell energizing, refreshing and a little sweet. There are also hints of lavender, heliotrope and citrus lingering in background, keeping the overall scent distinctively masculine. I think that this is a wonderful everyday fragrance if you want something that's simple, versatile and easy to wear. There is a feminine version of Fuel For Life, but I think that this one is much more interesting and refined!

Funnily enough, I originally purchased a bottle of Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris (£30) for myself (I loved the name and the design!), but it turned out to be much too masculine for my own wear. If your man is a fan of heavy, smoky, leather-based fragrances, then this one will be a real treat. Midnight in Paris brings together unusual notes of incense, tonka bean, almond and benzoin (which smells like smoky vanilla), on a heavy leather background. It's sexy, mysterious and intimate, perfect especially for casual wear during colder months. The bottle design is one of my all-time favourites, resembling a beautiful, starry night sky. A wonderful gift idea for that special someone!

Karl Lagerfeld's For Him (£20) is a budget-friendly staple if you are looking for something simple and refreshing for the summer. It is a little similar to Diesel's Fuel For Life, but much more fresh, uplifting and a little floral. The composition combines bright notes of mandarin and green apple, on the bed of soft lavender and warm sandalwood. I'd say that out of all of today's recommendations, For Him is definitely the safest, most 'crowd-pleasing' choice. It's a great gift idea if you're buying for someone and you're not certain of their fragrance taste - this one will be liked by most. This scent is versatile, easy to wear and perfect especially for casual wear during the upcoming summer months.

24 Gold by ScentStory (£24) was a blind purchase that I made based entirely on the overwhelmingly positive reviews online. My hopes for this fragrance weren't high at first (partly because of the price, partly because of the TV show association!), but it completely exceeded my expectations. 24 Gold offers a beautiful, oriental composition which brings together the most exotic notes of amber, vanilla and agarwood. It's soft, creamy and almost nutty, but with a sharp, smoky edge. This perfume honestly smells so unbelievably elegant and luxurious, if I hadn't known the brand I would have guessed it to be Chanel or Guerlain! Definitely one of my favourites, and an amazing gift idea.

I hope you enjoyed today's recommendations! It was fun, but also a little challenging to tackle masculine fragrances, as they are not something that I typically talk about. Thank you again to today's sponsors, and a big thanks to my boyfriend for letting me borrow some of his perfumes for this post!
