Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Rose Matter - Review + Swatches!

Hello there, my sweet muffins! It's been a little while since my last post, and I do apologise for being so quiet lately. I have some exciting new posts coming up for you soon, and I will be sure to catch up with all your lovely blogs this weekend! Today, I am bringing you a review of this gorgeous Velour liquid lipstick by Jeffree Star in the shade Rose Matter (£16.00, BeautyBay). Now, if you have been visiting my blog for a while, you might know about my troubled relationship with liquid lipsticks. I love how they look, but I tend to stay away from them as they are always so uncomfortable to wear. Even the most popular and renowned liquid lipsticks (for example, the ones by NYX) would end up drying my lips like there's no tomorrow! Still, I've heard amazing things about Jeffree's Velour range, so I decided to take the plunge and try one, hoping to finally find a perfect liquid lipstick that works for me. Hope you enjoy!

The first positive thing I noticed about the Velour lipsticks was the unusual and diverse range of shades available. These aren't just your typical nudes, reds and gentle pinks. Each shade has a unique twist to it, and there are some really interesting and bold colours available - including vibrant greens, blues, purples and even a pearly white! I am not brave enough to try out a green lipstick just yet, so I decided to go with the most neutral shade that I could find - Rose Matter. All of the lipsticks come in transparent, plastic tubes with a bright pink cap and stars printed on it. The applicator is a standard doe foot wand, which allows you to glide on the formula really easily.

I had high hopes for the formula after reading all the positive reviews, and I am happy to say that it did not disappoint. These lipsticks are quite comfortable, long-wearing and opaque. The formula dries up very quickly (but not so fast that you don't have the time to properly apply it first), giving you a fully matte finish. When dry, this lipstick feels soft, smooth and not sticky at all, unlike other liquid formulas that I've tried. It also has a very faint, creamy sweet scent to it, which I think is supposed to resemble root beer. I personally don't mind it, but it might not be the best option if you prefer your makeup to be fragrance-free. As for the lasting power, it is absolutely exceptional! There is zero transfer, and the lipstick will stay on all day and night, until you decide to take it off. It lasts very well through eating and drinking, and I didn't need to top it up at all throughout the day.

I am also very pleased with the shade I picked out - Rose Matter. This is a dusty pink with some interesting, coral undertones. It's actually a lot more vibrant than I expected, and, as you can see in the swatches, the pigmentation is exceptional. I think that this is a lovely, versatile shade for everyday wear, and probably one of the 'safest' options in the Velour range.

As with most liquid lipsticks, it's always a good idea to moisturise your lips before application. Personally, I like to use a lip balm - I have been really loving these super cute Oh K! lip balms that I found on BeautyBay - they smell like cotton candy, are incredibly hydrating and adorable to look at (not sponsored!).

Overall, I am very pleased with my Velour in Rose Matter, and I'd recommend this range to anyone who enjoys liquid lipsticks and is looking to expand their collection with something unique and special. I am not sure whether I will be purchasing any more shades myself, simply because there aren't many colours in the range that I can actually see myself wearing. The quality of these is exceptional, and they're a lot more comfortable to wear than your typical liquid lipsticks. I probably wouldn't recommend these if you're just starting out with liquid lipsticks as they are quite expensive (£16.00 on BeautyBay), but if you're already a fan of liquid formulas and want something unusual and high-quality, definitely check these out!
