Guerlain - Shalimar Parfum Initial
This is actually the second Guerlain perfume featuring in this list, which just goes to show how beautiful and unique their bottle designs really are. Parfum Initial is a more modern, youthful version of the original Shalimar fragrance from 1925. This version comes in a sleek, tall bottle decorated with a gorgeous, blue tassel and a few golden accents. It looks exotic and expensive, supposedly inspired by the basins of the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore.
What does it smell like? Powdery, classic and unusual. This is a more likable interpretation of the 1925's iconic fragrance, making it a great choice if you're looking to expand your collection with something very special. This scent makes me think of iris flowers, caramel and expensive lipstick.
Marc Jacobs - Decadence
Marc Jacobs always creates the most eye-catching perfume bottles, and this one is no exception! Decadence resembles an emerald green handbag with a stylish gold chain, inspired by Jacobs' iconic fashion accessories. It looks expensive, modern and luxurious. It is a sturdy design, too - you can hold the bottle by the chain, just like a real handbag, and the cap will stay attached (trust me - I tested it!). I like it because it's different than the usual, girly Marc Jacobs designs, whilst still eye-catching and unique.
What does it smell like? This is a dark, sultry scent - completely different from the typical Marc Jacobs perfumes. It smells very warm, earthy and balsamic, with notes of amber and juicy blackberries. If you're interested, check out my full review of Decadence here!
Van Cleef & Arpels - Midnight in Paris
This is a fairly simple design, but I adore the name and the concept behind it. Decorated with a constellation of stars, this dark blue bottle actually changes colour to amber yellow when you look at it from different angles. I like it because it's so modern and unique, but there is also something quite romantic about it. As with most Van Cleef and Arpels' perfumes, the design was inspired by one of their most beautiful accessories - a gorgeous watch called Starphase.
What does it smell like? Although Midnight in Paris is marketed as men's cologne, I actually find it to be more of a unisex fragrance. It's citrusy, fresh and leathery, but not overly masculine. Admittedly, I bought it mostly for the bottle, but it's still a good choice if you're in a mood for something very unique.
Thierry Mugler - Angel Aqua Chic
The entire Angel range includes some of the most beautiful and unique bottle designs ever. The Aqua Chic edition looks very similar to the original Angel, but I went for it as I find the scent to be a little easier to wear. I simply adore the gorgeous star-shaped bottle - it looks expensive, unusual and a little futuristic. Thierry Mugler comes up with a new version of Angel almost every year - I adore the red Passion Star and the glittery Eau Sucree, but have yet to get my hands on them!
What does it smell like? This is a lighter, sweeter, more wearable version of the original Angel fragrance from 1992. It smells like fresh apples and creamy vanilla, with a hint of earthy patchouli. This is definitely one of the more unusual fragrances, and a great choice if you're looking for something completely different.
Dior - Miss Dior
This perfume needs no introduction - Miss Dior one of the most popular, best-selling fragrances of the last decade. The bottle is girly, simple and romantic - much like the scent that's hidden inside it. The little bow makes it look like a gift, something special that will be given to someone we love. The bottle design has changed a lot throughout the years (Miss Dior was originally launched in 1947!), with this and the limited edition d'Exception as two of my favourites.
What does it smell like? This is one of my favourites perfumes of all time! It smells incredibly feminine and sophisticated, but there is also something a little flirty and playful about it. You can read more about Miss Dior in my 'Top most romantic perfumes' recommendations post here!
That's it for my top ten prettiest perfume bottles! Which one is your favourite? Would you like to see a post featuring my entire perfume collection?
PS.: It's my birthday this Saturday, and I couldn't be more excited! Me and my better-half are going down to Weymouth (a beautiful seaside town) for a romantic weekend away. I probably won't be blogging much, but you can stay tuned with my Twitter and Instagram for updates! x
