Hey, lovelies! With summer just around the corner, I'm very excited to be bringing you my seasonal perfume recommendations. Personally, I think that this time of year is perfect for scents that are light, citrusy and refreshing. Hot temperatures tend to intensify fragrance notes, which means that a lot of the more potent scents can be a little overwhelming in warmer weather. My personal favourite summer perfume notes include lemon, grapefruit, coconut and peony rose, all of which will feature in today's list. Hope you enjoy this season's recommendations!
Victoria's Secret - Angel Gold (£61 for 50ml, Victoria's Secret)
It was difficult to pick just one Victoria's Secret fragrance for this list, as in my opinion, most of them deserve to be included! You really can't go wrong with Victoria's Secret, especially if you're looking for a fun, likable and girly scent for the summer. Angel Gold is currently my favourite from their range - it combines notes of refreshing bergamot, musk and gardenia. It basically smells like a fizzy lemon cocktail with a hint of freshly cut flowers, making it a perfect choice for warm weather. It's a lot less fruity and sweet than you'd expect from Victoria's Secret, so it might be a good one to try if you don't typically like their perfumes.
Try this if you like: Light, feminine, refreshing perfumes. In the Victoria's Secret range, Angel Gold is probably the closest to their popular Bombshell fragrance, although it's more floral and less fruity. Worth buying this one just for the bottle alone - it's so gorgeous!
Dior - Addict Eau Delice (£55 for 50ml, allbeauty.com)
Addict Eau Delice is a perfect choice if you're looking for a wearable, high-end summer fragrance with a twist. The scent brings together unusual notes of sour cranberry, sweet cherry and bitter almond. It's fruity, but not artificial-smelling or overly sweet. It kind of smells like sour cranberry juice with a hint of soft, creamy vanilla. It's very rare to see cranberry used in perfumes, which is why I love this scent so much - it's interesting, unusual and it will get you noticed (but it's still light enough for casual wear)! This perfume is a little more on the pricey side, but definitely worth the investment if you're looking for something more high-end.
Try this if you like: Addict Eau Delice is unlike anything I've ever tried, so I'd definitely recommend sampling it before purchase. It'd be a good choice for anyone who enjoys light, sour berry perfumes such as Cherry in the Air by Escada or La Petite Robe Noir by Guerlain.
Carolina Herrera - 212 VIP Rosé (£30 for 50ml, FragranceX)
This is actually one of my favourite perfumes of all time, and I absolutely had to include it in this list. The name, 'Rosé', doesn't actually refer to a rose flower, but sparkling rosé wine - which is exactly what this fragrance smells like! 212 VIP Rosé is fruity and playful; combining vibrant notes of fizzy champagne and delicate peach blossom. It smells bright and uplifting, making it a lovely choice for summer days when you want something light and inoffensive. Every time I wear this, it puts a smile on my face, and makes me feel happy and feminine!
Try this if you like: Bright, feminine and uplifting scents which are suitable for everyday wear. 212 VIP Rosé has a very lovely, 'sparkling' quality to it, reminiscent of perfumes such as Chance by Chanel or Love in Paris by Nina Ricci.
Marc Jacobs - Dot (£33 for 50ml, Boots)
As a huge fan of Marc Jacobs fragrances, I'd happily include most of them in this list. His bottle designs are always so unique, girly and pretty - much like the scents hidden inside them. I decided to include Dot as my top Marc Jacobs pick because of its unusual, tropical smell, which I think is perfect for summer months. The scent combines delicious notes of kiwi (although not officially listed, I can definitely smell it!) and dragonfruit, bathed in sugary coconut water. This is a very light, fruity scent - a little airy, a little watery, and very easy to wear. This isn't the kind of perfume that will draw much attention, making it a good choice for casual wear to work or school.
Try this if you like: Any of the Marc Jacobs perfumes, as well as any scents that are light, feminine, sweet and carefree. The unique bottle design makes Dot a wonderful gift idea!
Giorgio Armani - Acqua di Gioia (£36 for 50ml, allbeauty.com)
Acqua di Gioia is probably the most perfect summer fragrance, and one I only enjoy wearing in really hot weather. It is an incredibly well-balanced perfume - it's fresh, clean, warm and feminine; perfect for everyday wear as it's not too overbearing. The scent combines refreshing notes of citrus and mint, which remind me of a soothing ocean breeze. There are also hints of sugar and spices (especially prominent after a few hours of wearing it), which make me think of a sandy beach warming up in the morning sun. If you're familiar with Dolce & Gabbana's famous Light Blue fragrance - Acqua di Gioia is quite similar, but sweeter and more complex.
Try this if you like: Clean, fresh fragrances that make you smell as if you've just stepped out of the shower. Acqua di Gioia is quite similar to Omnia Crystalline by Bvlgari and Daisy by Marc Jacobs, which share the same, citrusy-fresh notes.
Gwen Stefani - Harajuku Lovers G (about £10 for 15ml, TKMaxx)
This would be my top recommendation if you're looking for something that's a little more budget-friendly. Harajuku Lovers G is the ultimate 'beach scent', combining delicious notes of sweet coconut, zesty orange and delicate white flowers. It basically smells like suntan lotion and pina coladas - could a fragrance get more summery than that? It's probably the sweetest out of all the perfumes featured in this list, and one that might be quite difficult to get hold of (as it is officially discontinued). I've seen it around TKMaxx a couple of times, so it's definitely worth having a look there if you're interested!
Try this if you like: Sweet, exotic fragrances with a lot of coconut, such as Friction by FCUK or Crystal Noir by Versace. Harajuku Lovers G is a little more complex than your usual celebrity perfumes, and absolutely perfect for a day out at the beach!
What are your favourite summer perfumes? Do you change up your fragrances depending on the weather?
On a side note, I finally caved in and started an Instagram page for my blog (I'm always years late with these things, lol)! It's still very new, so if you're also on Instagram and would like to connect, feel free to add me here. :) x x
