A few weeks ago I was invited by the lovely Trishna to do the 'Lip Product Addict' tag - thanks so much, girl! I really enjoyed reading this tag on other blogs, and I'm excited to finally do it myself. Hope you enjoy!
As we all know, photos are a huge part of blogging. You could write the best, most engaging posts; but if you don't have any images to accompany them, it's unlikely that your work is going to receive as much attention. Images add invaluable richness to your blog content, and help to break up long posts. The trick is to take attractive, eye-catching photos, which can be difficult if you don't have the right equipment. Not everyone can afford a professional camera - I, for one, still use the humble little phone camera on my Galaxy Alpha! Thankfully, there are things you can do to make your photos appear more professional. I'm sometimes asked about how I manage to get good quality photos on my blog, and while I am by no means an expert on this, I'd like to share with you some of my go-to photo-editing tricks. I hope you find them useful!
Today, I'm going to review something that I've actually had for quite a while - the Dior Addict Mirror Shine Volume & Care lip gloss. I never considered myself to be a lip gloss person; that is, until I discovered the Dior Addict range. I find that a lot of lip glosses are too sticky and uncomfortable to wear, making simple activities quite challenging (eating, drinking, or even going out for a walk on a windy day when you have long hair...). Furthermore, and this has to be said - lip glosses simply aren't as fashionable and popular as they were ten years ago. We seem to gravitate more and more towards velvety mattes and smooth satins, leaving lip glosses as a slightly irrelevant 'trend of the past'. That being said, there are still some gorgeous lip glosses out there!
Hey, beauties! Today, I will be reviewing one of the recent perfumes releases by Marc Jacobs - Daisy Dream Forever. Some of you may be familiar with the original Daisy Dream, which was one of the most popular fragrance launches of 2014. To be honest, I was never too keen on the original myself - something about that scent felt a little uninspired and bland, plus the staying power left a lot to be desired. Naturally, I was both cautious and curious about the new, 'improved' Forever edition. This perfume is advertised as a more intense, enhanced version of the original Daisy Dream, inspired by 'blue skies and youthful daydreaming'. When my boyfriend got it for me as a surprise gift, I thought it would be a great opportunity for another, long-overdue 'unboxing and first impressions' post!
Hey, lovelies! I don't know about you, but I've never been particularly good at hairstyles. I've had the same haircut for the last six years (!), and I tend to keep my haircare routine pretty simple. Part of it is due to the fact that my hair is naturally quite thick and unruly, making it very difficult to work with. When Irresistible Me invited me to try one of their products, I saw it as a great opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and do something new with my hair. I've never tried hair extensions before - whilst I always admired them on others, I was convinced that they wouldn't look good on me, and require too much effort. I was both cautious and excited to try these extensions, and it ended up being a pretty fun experience! Today, I'd like to share with you my initial impressions and honest thoughts on the Irresistible Me hair extensions.
Hey jelly beans! Today, I'm going to talk about one of my most recent makeup purchases - this gorgeous 'Nude Dude' eyeshadow palette by TheBalm (£29.99, Superdrug). This palette features twelve versatile, neutral shades (four mattes and eight shimmers), ranging from light, golden browns to warm, rosy purples. Some of you may be familiar with the Nude 'tude palette - Nude Dude is considered to be 'Volume 2' of TheBalm's eyeshadow palette series (a little like Naked and Naked 2 by Urban Decay). I decided to try this one instead of the Nude 'tude, as I felt that the warm, rosy-toned shades would be more suitable for my skintone.
Hey muffins! Today, I'm super excited to bring you my winter fragrance recommendations. Personally, I think that this time of year is perfect for scents that are quite heavy, bold and sweet. Hot temperatures tend to intensify fragrance notes, which means that a lot of the more powerful perfumes can be a little overwhelming in warmer weather. On the other hand, in cold temperatures, fragrances take a little longer to evaporate (meaning that they last longer on skin), giving us more time to appreciate their complexity. My favourite winter perfume notes include cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, amber and spices, all of which feature in today's list. Hope you enjoy this season's recommendations!
